All new, resale, and rental homes with private wells for drinking water in Sussex County, New Jersey, must have their well water tested. A laboratory certified by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) must sample and analyze the water in accordance with the Sussex County Board of Health requirements. York Analytical Laboratories can provide NJDEP certified Sussex County water testing.
The Sussex County law requires specific testing of the well water for a variety of contaminants and chemical parameters where a Certificate of Occupancy is required. Testing includes a standard PWTA Parameter test (Total Coliform Bacteria, pH, Iron, Manganese, Lead, Arsenic, Gross Alpha, Uranium, Nitrate, Volatile Organic Scan, low level VOC (1,2,3-TCP, EDB, and DBCP), and PFA (PFNA, PFOA, and PFOS) analysis.
County or local testing requirements exceeding those of PWTA may incur additional charges.
