The current Environmental Protection Agency guidelines state that these chemicals are safe only when found at “near zero” levels in drinking water. But the Alliance found that toxic PFAS and PFOS contamination is present at significant levels in 83 percent of waterways tested!
The Clean Water Act of 1972 was supposed to protect our vital waterways. However, it is not enough for the complicated times we live in. These chemicals are now so prevalent, there are nearly everywhere humans live — no one can completely escape their effects.
Existing laws and regulations may be inadequate for protecting us. The effects of these chemicals can be mitigated by testing of your drinking water (at least once a year), so you can take appropriate and informed action if your water is contaminated.
Don’t assume your drinking water is safe, get it tested!
