Frequently Asked Questions

1. Should I test my drinking water?2024-09-12T11:34:14-04:00

Yes! There is a rapidly escalating drinking water crisis in our communities because of rampant pollution of groundwater sources from a variety of sources — chemicals from manufacturing and industrial sites, fire fighting foam run-off from airports and military bases, pesticides from industrial farming.

More and more, people are dealing with increasing levels of bacteria, heavy metals (from rusted old water systems), and PFAS (known as “Forever Chemicals”) in our drinking water supplies. If you’d like more information about PFAS, please see our Resources page.

What tests do you need?  It depends on your water source — well water, city water or water from a utilities water system.

We offer Essentials, Complete and PFAS test kit packages, and you may choose additional parameters to add to the Essentials package. If you do not see something that suits your needs, please contact (888) 965-7313.

2. How often should I get my water tested?2024-09-12T11:45:12-04:00

It depends on your water source.  If you get your drinking water from a private water well, it is advised that you have your drinking water tested once per year. Check with your local health department for other testing requirements.  When there are environmental incidents in your area — natural disasters like flooding, chemical spills and other occurrences — it is always wise to have your drinking water tested.

3. What should I test my water for?2023-07-05T14:47:31-04:00

We offer various drinking water testing options for private water testing to the regulated community. The Standard Test will provide a general indication of water quality and address basic indicators and you may build upon the standard test for those living near potential sources of contamination like farms or industrial sites. For a complete breakdown of our water test kits, visit our order page.

4. What are PFAS and “Forever Chemicals?”2022-12-15T21:20:07-05:00

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a diverse group of human-made chemicals used in a wide range of consumer and industrial products. These chemicals seep into water from factories, landfills, and other sources. They’re often called “forever chemicals” because they don’t easily break down in the environment. PFAS chemicals have been linked to many adverse health outcomes, including kidney and testicular cancer, thyroid problems, liver disease, decreased fertility, and developmental problems.
